An introduction to VA data in general
describes the many types of data sources within the Veterans Health Administration
of particular relevance to VA research.
Detailed information here focuses on the data most frequently used by
VA researchers. These are the basic inpatient and outpatient data from
VHA facilities that are stored at the Corporate Franchise Data Center (formerly, the Austin Automation Center) and
available as SAS datasets. (SAS is a registered trademark of the SAS Institute,
